Scams in Auto Industry of Pakistan

The automobile industry in Pakistan, amongst many others, tragically finds itself plagued by numerous unperceived scams. It’s crucial for unwary customers to be aware of these fraudsters and their scams whenever they intend to purchase a vehicle.
One of the commonest scams involves car booking and delivery. Many a times, buyers make full or partial payments and in return encounter delays in receiving their vehicle. Some dealers demand a surplus, promising  a quicker delivery, while others take complete payments and disappear entirely, leaving the customers without the vehicle and their hard earned money.

Another alarming scam is the odometer rollback fraud. Dealers manipulate odometers of used cars by setting them to a lower mileage that misleads buyers about the actual mile span. Moreover, accident cars are sold as new by being repainted that masks any history of accident and any minor or significant repairs.

Buyers also need to be cautious of buying smuggled cars that are sold at lower prices and conveniently offer risk of the vehicle being seized by the authorities. Some dealers sell cars with tampered documents posing immense difficulty in transferring ownership legally.

What’s more, counterfeit spare parts, accessories, and engine oils are sold under premium brands leading to poor vehicle performance and major safety hazards.
People also need to beware of fake agents offering fake auto loans and insurance policies, luring them into buying them and  then disappearing after getting the payment and leaving the customer helpless in case of any accident.

aking everything in account, it is important for people to be mindful of prevailing scams to avoid needless emotional stress and financial loss. One must always verify the legitimacy of dealers, do thorough research, and consult trusted sources before making any purchase as being watchful is key to navigating the auto market in Pakistan!
