# Diesel and Petrol Prices Skyrocket by Rs. 55 Amid Middle-East Crisis

The government has said that the price of petrol and diesel will go up by a lot, to Rs. 55 per litre. These new rates, which go into effect today, March 7, 2026, make fuel prices the highest they've been since 2023.

Ali Pervaiz Malik of the Petroleum Ministry said at a news conference today that the fight between Iran, the US, and Israel is what made things so tense in the Middle East so quickly.

Because of the worsening geopolitical situation, global crude oil prices have shot up, and the government has passed the higher costs on to consumers.
